Both Hubby and I are BIG Virgin Mojito lovers. Whenever we eat out, it’s the beverage that we must order. Recently, however, it struck me that we were wasting over 150 bucks on a drink that can be made at home at a much lower price and with practically no hard work at all. I tried making it at home using my own recipe, and voila! It tasted better than what is available at KFC (we found it better since we like our VM a little less sweet)!
The second time, I served it to guests and it became an instant hit. Then, I posted a pic of the drink and since then, I have been getting endless demands of sharing the recipe. So I’ll tell you how to make this sparkling, minty beverage, as VM is something that can be gulped down any time and every time. Here’s the recipe:
Ingredients: (Serves 4)
1 bunch fresh mint leaves
400 ml sugar syrup (preferably brown sugar)
1 bottle aerated soda
Wash the mint leaves thoroughly and discard the stems. Break the leaves roughly and add to a jar along with the ice cubes. Add in the sugar syrup. Squeeze the juice of 3 lemons and strain. Add to the jar and using a stirrer, mix well. Wash 2 lemons and cut into 4 pieces. Add the the jar and using a spoon, gently crush the mint leaves and the lemon pieces. Mix in the soda. Stir and pour into glasses without straining. Serve chilled. And don’t forget the straw!
Eat, drink and be merry! 🙂
